ART
Madness, which is often used as a synonym of creativity, is connected to art. Their relationship has become ever deeper after the earliest psychanalytic and neuroscientific studies of the beginning of past century. Surrealists were the first to reveal the inner and clearer link between insanity and art. After Surrealism, the two dimensions, the existential and the artistic ones, have been weaving together, merging and chasing each other throughout the 20th century till nowadays. The clear boundary between the medical domain and the poetic landscape gradually faded away, leaving space to open comparisons and reciprocal contaminations. This let the foolish creativity show her multifaceted masks.

Known for being a jewel of the Renaissance architecture in Rome designed by Donato Bramante, which hosts an amazing fresco by Raffaello Sanzio, Chiostro del Bramante has established itself as an important museum at both national and international level. For more than twenty years, it has been organising several modern and contemporary art exhibitions in dialogue with the Renaissance architecture of the Chiostro and in collaboration with many relevant art institutions and international museums, such as le Musée D’Orsay, le Centre Pompidou, Tate Modern and Tinguely Musuem. It’s with the organisation of the trilogy LOVE, ENJOY and DREAM curated by Danilo Eccher that Chiostro del Bramante continue his careful research and experimentation in the contemporary artistic discourse. In this occasion, the curator created original and site-specific projects, which presented the works of art of some of the most relevant contemporary artists.
