BEAUTY! a solo exhibition at Mucciaccia Gallery, Rome
BEAUTY! a solo exhibition by Austin Young
The solo exhibition Beauty! by Austin Young opens on Friday, September 26 at 6 pm (and runs until November 29) at Mucciaccia Gallery Project.
A multidisciplinary artist whose unique style has stood out in both international and national contemporary art scenes for his ability to blend, using different expressive languages, pop culture and high art, underground exuberance and rigor, queer imagery and symbolism, Austin Young returns to the capital after the success of Temple of flowers at the Chiostro del Bramante, with a new site-specific project.
With this new installation, conceived for the gallery space in the historic center of Rome, the artist, who has chosen the city as a second home after Los Angeles, continues his exploration of the beauty of nature and flowers as universal symbols with multiple meanings: from resistance to spirituality, from love to conflict, from science to ecology. In his continuous search for beauty and the sublime, Young, who describes himself as an activist for beauty, presents a new body of work inspired by cosmology and the symbolic power of nature, transforming the space into a lush garden where flowers, human elements, and nature merge to create an engaging atmosphere that stimulates all the senses. The title of the exhibition is already a statement of intent: Beauty! not only evokes the beauty of nature but aims to use it as a powerful tool to address the ecological and social challenges of the present.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue published by Silvana Editoriale, with an exhibition essay by Claudia Gioia

Fallen Fruit is an art collaboration originally conceived in 2004 by David Burns, Matias Viegener and Austin Young. Since 2013, David Burns and Austin Young have continued the collaborative work.
Fallen Fruit is now on show at Gallerie delle Prigioni, as part of the Imago Mundi Art Theorema#2 collection.

When the Globe is Home
When the Globe is Home THEOREMA #2
Treviso, 3rd July / 29th November 2020
Fallen Fruit / Austin Young and David Allen Burns, is now on show at Gallerie delle Prigioni, as part of the Imago Mundi Art Theorema#2 collection. http://www.imagomundiart.com
Curated by Claudio Scorretti and Irina Ungureanu, the exhibition brings together works – many of which are being shown for the first time – by 13 international artists selected from the Imago Mundi Art Theorema collections, to explore the ongoing contemporary mediation between global and local, near and far, the collective and the individual: between “Home” and “the World”. When the Globe is Home, which will run until 29th November, continues the exploration of and dialogue among contemporary visual cultures by the Imago Mundi art project promoted by Luciano Benetton. Conceived and partially staged before the outbreak of the global pandemic (the inauguration date was originally planned for 31st March), the recent shared lockdown experience affords a new evocative power to the central idea of this exhibition that specularly connects the world and home. In the design of the exhibition, each of the individual “cells” that make up Gallerie delle Prigioni - the former Habsburg prison restored by the architect Tobia Scarpa – has been conceived as a “home”, an intimate and familiar space in which the artists can express, distil or expand their vision. The climate emergency, sustainability, social transformations of cities, migrations and new aesthetic sensitivities, new encounters, experiences, and the acceleration of contemporary globality are some of the themes addressed by the 13 artists. A concept that emerges with particular energy and creative passion is the figuration of a “new home”: of loss, discovery, reconstruction.
SUPERSHOW by Fallen Fruit

ABOUT SUPERSHOW: An exhibition by Fallen Fruit, David Allen Burns and Austin Young.
SUPERSHOW Explores Fallen Fruit’s contemporary art practice, reflecting upon a broader,
controversial global environmental movement involving food production. As food is inextricably bound
to identity, small-scale self sufficient organic farming is becoming a means for cultural rediscovery,
invigorating the politics of both left and right and going far beyond community gardening.
Using the subject of fruit as a cultural object to investigate the design of public space and collective
experience, Fallen Fruit taps into urban agriculture, a growing global force highlighted recently in
London at the Victoria & Albert Museum’s“FOOD: Bigger Than the Plate,” an exhibition featuring
artwork by Fallen Fruit.
