Conversations with Austin Young

AUSTIN YOUNG / a series of conversations.

I am an artist. I'm going to share interviews with people I've collaborated with in my art practice. Upcoming conversations include Love Connie, Margaret Cho, Nadya Ginsburg and more. Austin Young (Tranimal, Fallen Fruit) is a multidisciplinary artist whose trademark style interprets a nuanced visual language of beauty, Pop culture, art history, folk art, and transgressive underground exuberance.

I'm so excited to share the first part one of a conversation with comedian and artist Nadya Ginsburg. Nadya was collaborator, Co-writer and star on my ongoing video art project, "The Worm." We talk about some of the different episodes of The Worm, Jump Cut 3, the business of Hollywood, past traumas, Jungian therapy, and more!

I'm so excited to share this intimate conversation with the incredibly talented and entertaining John Cantwell aka Love Connie! We talk about being a perfectionist, breaking down, Fallen Fruit, Akbar, Love Connie's podcast, John's role on Legally Blonde, Drag Race. Olivia Newton John, Grease, Smile, Female Trouble, how to make it in Hollywood, and more - before his phone runs out of batteries. I have done many portraits of Love Connie and John also is in my participatory artwork, TBD The Experience, and my short film called 'Jump Cut 3.'

This is my first interview in a series I'll be posting here. I'm so excited to share this intimate conversation with Margaret Cho, we talk about our creative processes, imposter syndrome, DMT, Jackie Beat, the 'Mona Lisa," Queen Please, TBD The Musical, Margaret's new show about her mom, things that don't turn out the way you imagined, and more. Thank you for listening - love you. - Austin Young
